Natural Medicines And The Health Mindset

Our understanding of health, healing & wellbeing goes beyond just physical fitness and the absence if disease. It also includes what I like to refer to as a health mindset. Combined these qualities will go a long way to influencing the level of health and healing and wellbeing you enjoy. In fact I would go as far to say, that over the last 30 or so years practicing as a homoeopath / naturopath, a ‘solid’ health mindset is one common denominator of clients that do really well with treatment and above all, enjoy high levels of wellbeing.

A Health Mindset Combined With Natural Medicines

A health mindset is undoubtedly more than just a positive attitude. It’s a way of thinking that acknowledges the mind-body connection in a very tangible, practical and intentional way. It as the acknowledgement that our mental / emotional / spiritual state can influence our physical health and vice versa. Instead of viewing health as solely the absence of illness, on the whole, individuals with a health mindset understand that well-being encompasses the many dimensions of being an individual. So when this approach is combined with Natural medicines such as homoeopathy and naturopathy, by in large, health and healing are promoted from different angles. One supporting and complimenting the other.

Accept The Status Quo

One fundamental step when encouraging the health mindset, is the practice of mindfulness. Being fully present in the moment, acknowledging your thoughts and feelings with a degree of equanimity or objectivity. When it come to your health and dealing with an illness or some condition, I like to say to my clients that it is about accepting the status quo. Look at what’s happening with your health and, as mush as possible, accepting what is happening. Now I know this is sometimes a lot easier said than done, but having this intention is a good first step towards reshaping the mindset.

“The practice of mindfulness helps build a health minset”

Through techniques such as meditation, yogic breathing exercises or prayer, we can train our minds to stay more focused on the present, reducing stress and promoting a sense of calm. These kind of practices become the cornerstone in building a mindset that is going to support your healing while taking natural medicines. Check out my article on health meditation:

Journalling Builds A Strong Health Mindset

Journalling is another powerful tool for cultivating the health mindset – it’s one of my favourites. Through writing, we can explore our thoughts and emotions, gaining insights into stories, patterns and triggers. This reflective practice not only promotes self-awareness but also serves as a therapeutic release, allowing individuals to process and release pent-up emotions. It becomes a journey of self-discovery, helping to reshape negative thought patterns into more positive and empowering ones. What I love about journalling is that it helps keep me focused.

Vision Board And Manifestation

Creating a vision board is a popular method people like to use. It’s a way to help manifest particular desires and contribute to a stronger health mindset. A vision board is a collage of images, affirmations or quotes that represent your goals and aspirations in a meaningful and real way. Through the creative process of the vision board, you are more easily able to visualise your positive health & healing, reinforcing a positive mindset and enhance motivation. This is one technique used in the Law of Attraction (LOA), suggesting that like attracts like. As we put our attention and focus on positive aspects of our health, LOA states that we are more likely to attract more positive experiences. https://totalbalance.com.au/how-to-make-a-vision-board/

Intentions For Healthy Mindset

One really important quality to cultivate is to be able to set your intentions about what you want from your health, healing and wellbeing. It’s a bit like stating a goal, and while this may be true, it is more ‘holistic’ than that. You see, to a greater or lesser degree, we can choose our thoughts and decide how we are going to respond in a certain situation. This approach can help to give us a sense of control over our well-being, reducing feelings of helplessness and fostering resilience in the face of adversity.

To have the health mindset does require practice. And we do get better at it over time. It involves making conscious, intentional choices about healing and encourages positive thought patterns. When this health mindset is coupled with natural medicines it allows for a wonderful combination. This combination can significantly contribute to your health, healing and wellbeing.
